Marine and power generation

EMD 645 and 710 and ALCO 251 engines outside rail: marine propulsion, dredgers, drilling rigs, standby and prime power. The same parts, the same engineering, with the documentation classification societies and plant auditors ask for.

Marine and power generation (1) [a506073f6d12]

The locomotive engines EMD and ALCO built also went to sea and into power houses in large numbers. Marine and power variants differ from rail in cooling, exhaust, governing and rating, and they are often maintained by teams who never saw a locomotive. We supply the parts and, where needed, the engineering to confirm which variant you have and what fits it.

Marine propulsion and auxiliaries

Parts for 645 and 710 marine variants and ALCO 251 marine engines, with material certificates for class surveys.

Dredgers and workboats

Continuous duty parts and overhaul kits planned around dry dock windows.

Power generation

Prime and standby sets: power assemblies, injection, turbochargers, governors and the electrical items around them.

Drilling rigs

Parts and expediting for rig power on a schedule agreed with the rig manager.

Questions we are asked

Do you supply parts with certificates for a classification survey?

Yes. Material certificates and test reports are quoted per line; tell us the society and the survey requirement.

Are marine and rail parts interchangeable?

Some are, many are not. Send the engine model and serial; an engineer confirms the variant before the quotation.

Engines we cover

Test reports

Functional, pressure or dimensional tests for the items shipped.

Packing list

Itemised in your format with weights and dimensions per case.

Formal quotation

On letterhead with validity, Incoterm, payment terms and bank details.

Cooling and exhaust differ from rail; governing and reversing gear are specific. Send the engine serial and the vessel's class notation.

Constant speed operation changes wear patterns; injection and governing parts matter most. Tell us the rating and the hours.
